Where was Ruby born? Describe her family
Ruby Bridges was born on September 8, 1954, in Tylertown, Mississippi but her family moved to New Orleans, Louisiana when she was four years old. Ruby was the oldest of five children in her family, and they lived in a small apartment in a poor neighbourhood. Her parents, Abon and Lucille Bridges were sharecroppers in Mississippi before moving to Louisiana, where her father found work as a janitor and her mother worked odd jobs to support the family.
