Rubik's Cube Flashcards
- Get the first white edge piece on top, then line up the second colour presented on this edge piece with the same colour center piece
- Get the first white edge piece on top, then line up the second colour presented on this edge piece with the same colour center piece
- Adjust a white edge piece so that it touches it’s second colour to the same colour centre piece. Then turn the face containing both pieces so that the white edge piece is on top. Make sure to not mess up the first white edge piece that is already in place.

- continue with the remaining two white edge pieces so that you get a white cross on top but also have them matching the center colours.
Part A: white cross
Part B: white corner pieces
- get a white corner piece on a down face corner, but with the white portion not on the downface (so another colour will be there instead)
- twist the downface until this corner piece is in between the two center pieces having the same colour
- bring the white corner piece to the top so that the white colour is in place
- pull down (just a quarter turn) the face that contains that new white piece so that it stays joined with the edge piece that you just connected it to
- use this opportunity to bring up the face that was moved when you first brought up your new white piece
- bring the new white piece face back up as a unit like it was when it went down
Part A: White cross
Part B: White corner pieces
Part C: edge pieces not containing yellow
Set-up:
- find an edge piece not containing yellow but that is located in the Down face already and observe the two colours. The downface colour is the one you need to look at first. Turn the downface until the downface colour is as far away as possible from its corresponding side colour (place it to the back while you have the corresponding side facing you).
- now look at the second colour and figure out if the matching face is on the left or on the right. If it is on the right follow the right algorithm listed below. If it is on the left follow the left algorithm listed below
Right algorithm
F D F’ D’ R’ D’ R
Left algorithm
F’ D’ F D L D L’
Part A: White cross
Part B: White corner pieces
Part C: edge pieces not containing yellow
Part D: Yellow cross
Change the white face to the down face.
Look at the yellow edge pieces on the new upface. If you see a yellow cross already (the colours do not need to match the centers yet), then you can skip the rest of this card.
If you can see two yellow edge pieces across from each other on the new upface (yellow center), make the line horizontal and do the following algorithm:
B L U L’ U’ B’
If you can see two yellow edge pieces adjacent to each other turn the entire cube so that it makes one close to you and the other to the right, then do the following algorithm:
B U L U’ L’ B’
If you do not see either of these then you can choose one of the above algorithms and do that until you do see a line or adjacent pieces, then do the appropriate algorithm to the new situation.
The colours do not need to match in this step. Just end with a yellow cross (and corner pieces can be random though it is not uncommon for them to sometimes already be yellow!)
Part A: White cross
Part B: White corner pieces
Part C: edge pieces not containing yellow
Part D: Yellow cross
Part E: Swap yellow edges in top layer
To switch the front top and the left top edges use this algorithm:
R U R’ U R U2 R’ U
You need to use the permutation twice if the pieces that need to be switched are not adjacent
You will now have a yellow cross that is also colour matched.
Part A: White cross
Part B: White corner pieces
Part C: edge pieces not containing yellow
Part D: Yellow cross
Part E: Swap yellow edges in top layer
Part F: Get yellow corner pieces to have the correct set of colours but not necessarily in the right orientation
To cycle three corners in the upper layer, use this algorithm. Turn the whole cube so that the correct coloured corner is in the front-right-top corner.
U R U’ L’ U R’ U’ L
Repeat if it didn’t solve the colour issue yet, keeping the correct one in the front-right-top.
Now they will be in the right locations but perhaps still oriented incorrectly.
Part A: White cross
Part B: White corner pieces
Part C: edge pieces not containing yellow
Part D: Yellow cross
Part E: Swap yellow edges in top layer
Part F: Orient yellow corners correctly to finish
Make sure to turn the cube so that the piece you want to orient is in the front-right-top.
Use this algorithm making sure to repeat the cycle until the piece is in place and the four step pattern is also complete, so even though the corner place will be correct, you have to still finish to the fourth turn of the algorithm.
R’ D’ R D
Then rotate just the top face clockwise to get the next cube in place in the top-right-front. The cube may look disorganized and this is fine. Then do the algorithm until this corner is fixed. Keep going like this until the cube is solved.
