Chest XR findings for bronchiolitis?
Hyperinflation
Patchy infiltrates
Atelectasis
How to diagnose bronchiolitis?
History and physical exam (generally does not require imaging/labs)
Management for bronchiolitis?
Supportive care (oxygen, fluids, suctioning)
No benefit with alpha or beta agonists or ICS; can use hypertonic saline in hospitalized pts
Early RSV bronchiolitis predisposes patients to?
Recurrent wheezing and asthma during first decade of life (evidence limited to premature infants)
RSV prophylaxis with palivizumab is recommended for?
1) Infants <29 wks GA without CLD who are younger than 12 months at start of RSV season
2) Infants with CLD of prematurity younger than 24 months who continue to require medical therapy within 6 months of onset of RSV season
