Q

What are some common issues with TACAN?

A

Hard failures are indicated by the red or white alarm indicators on the front panel of the receiver-transmitter. Hard failure causes an automatic switch to standby operation mode 10 to 12 seconds after detected. Soft failure are those indicated by the amber alarm. Although a soft failure will not directly affect the selected operating mode of the equipment, more then one soft fail at the same time will result in automatic system standby.
