Salients features of TyPe 1 RTA? (Distal RTA)

A
  • occurs commonly in children
  • failure of distal tubules to secrete hydrogen ions
  • urinary ph is >5.5
  • metabolic acidosiswuth hyperchloremia
  • hypocitraturia
  • hypokalemia
  • bicarbonaturia
  • low ammonium ion in the urine
  • Urolithiasis (stones in the tubules)
