A Quantitative, Positivist research method consisting of structured questionnaires and interviews

Representativeness - Good for large samples
Reliability - Easy to replicate
Researcher Bias - Researcher can remain detached
Researcher Values - Unlikely to affect responses
Cause/Effect - Possible to isolate variables to measure their effects
Comparison - Easy to convert into numerical form and make comparisons

Validity - Poor due to:
Can’t achieve empathy/verstehen
No in depth data - no insight
Not naturalistic
No close bond with respondents
Not respondent led - researcher sets the agenda
Lacks flexibility
Postal/Online - Low response rate
Self-Completion - Self-Selecting samples
