RQ-C-4941, AOP Review (Transformer Fire, CRE, CCW, Seiche, NI) Flashcards
1
Q
How many fire pumps should be running when a main transformer deluge occurs?
A
- Two (this is the only event which requires two fire pumps)
2
Q
Why is it important to open the generator output breaker disconnects ASAP if the main transformer is on fire?
A
- Isolates capacitors which may re-ignite fire
3
Q
Why is CVCS cross tie initiated during a loss of all CCW
A
- Without CCW charging pumps will destroy themselves within 90 secs
4
Q
Why is loss of charging a concern during a loss of all CCW
A
- With no CCW and no CCP then there is a loss of all RCP seal cooling
5
Q
Why is letdown isolated during a loss of all CCW?
A
- VCT temperatures will rise which will challenge NPSH for the CCPs
6
Q
Why are CRDM fans run during a loss of all CCW?
A
- Aids in cooling the RVCH during the natural circ cooldown (no RCPs b/c no CCW)
7
Q
When would CCW NOT be cross tied during a loss of all CCW?
A
- When the loss is due to a hydraulic failure (e.g., broken pipe)
