What is the test for Alcohol?
Heat with Acidified potassium dichromate
What happens when acidified potassium dichromate is added to a primary, secondary and tertiary alcohol?
Primary alcohol and secondary alcohol - changes from orange to green.
Tertiary alcohol - colour does not change
Test for Aldehyde
What is the test for an aldehyde?
Tollens reagent or Fehling’s solution
What is tollens reagent made from?

Bromine water
What is the observed chnage?
Decolourises bromine water
