1)Set up an experiment where the spring is hung from a clamp that is fitted to a clamp stand
2) fix the ruler in place and to make sure it is level, check with a spirit levell
3) position the end of the spring so it aligns with the 0cm on the Ruler
4) Add a mass to the end of the spring and measure the extension, making sure your eyes are level with the end of the mass of the spring
5) Repeat step 4 with aa range of weights
6) Repat the whole process twice to remove anomalies
7)Calculate a mean
8) Determin the force
9) plot a graph
