Distillation method

• Pour about 50cm² of cola into a conical flask
• Place ice and water into a beaker and put a boiling tube in the beaker
• Put the conical flask on a tripod and then put the delivery tube in the boiling tube
• Heat the cola with a bunsen burner on a ½ open flame until it boils and then turn it off
• Lower the beaker of cold water away from the delivery tube to free the test tube of distilled water

How could you test to make sure all the solvent has evaporated in distillation

Reheat the evaporating basin, and if the weight stays the same, all the solvent has been evaporated

-Safety goggles to protect your eyes
-Leave the delivery tube to cool for it will burn you
- Don’t let the delivery tube touch any distilled water or the collected water might be tucked back
