Powers under Section 113 LTA
DIMDFFD
General Road Related Powers
D- Direct driver to give details
I- Inspect, test and examine documentation, breaks or any part of vehicle
M-Move any vehicle causing obstruction
D- Direct driver to remove the vehicle from road
F- Forbid an unlicensed driver to drive
F- Forbid anyone operating transport vehicles without a licence to stop
D- Direct anyone driving or riding an animal to stop to keep particular traffic line clear. This applies to pedestrians too
Powers under Section 114 LTA
Stopping Vehicles and demanding details
- Allows you to stop vehicles and demand details
- Keep the driver there as long as necessary
- Arrest anyone who gives false information, no information or doesn’t stop
Powers under Section 115 LTA
Banning vehicles from the road
Power to direct that vehicle not to be driven if:
- failing to comply with regulations
- not in a safe condition
Powers under Section 118 LTA
Obtaining Information
Require the OWNER or HIRER to give information within 14 days to identify and apprehend driver or passenger of car used in a crime
OR if used in a Police pursuit owner must give information immediately

Entering premise and seizing vehicles
- Powers to enter and carry out a breath test
- Powers to seize a vehicle without a warrant
Powers under Section 121
FARMED
Taking keys and forbidding to drive
F- Forbid someone to drive for a specified time
A- All keys surrendered
R- Render the vehicle immobile
M- Move any vehicle causing obstruction
E- EBA forbidden to drive for 12 hours
D- Direct that person to drive to a specified place if they’ve exceeded max driving hours

Power to seize vehicles
Power to seize vehicle for 12 hours if you believe its in the best interest of the public

When must you suspend a drivers licence?
And how long will they lose the license?
28 days
- Excess breath or blood alcohol level over 650 or over 400 plus any other offence within 4 years
- Failed or refused blood test
- Driving a vehicle 40kmp over permanent speed limit
- Driving a vehicle 50kmp over temporary speed limit
When can you seize or impound a vehicle?
And how long can you impound it for?

Section 122- 12 hour impound for public safety
Section 123- 7 day impound for forensics after serious crash
Section 96- 28 day impound
What is a green sticker?
POL 650 (defective)
-failure to comply with regulations, not WOF ready
What is a pink sticker?
POL 555 (unsafe)
-vehicle not in a safe condition to be on the road
When would you give out pink and green stickers? And under what section?
