What is a Royal Marine?
A Royal marine is a member of an elite amphibious force of the navy, held at a very high readiness for worldwide rapid response and threat neutralisation. Capable of operating in any environment which makes them unique.
Also a soldier who’s been through the hardest military training in the world and adheres to a moral and positive set of values
What do they do?
Royal Marines provide a number of services from conflict prevention to specialist amphibious perditions, depending on what unit you look at.
Why do you want to be a Royal Marine?
Had the passion since 6th Form
Realised at uni I wanted to be a marine
Didn’t quit
Interested in helping others not money or fame and a career where I am respected
A lifestyle of Physical training
And the travelling is a bonus
Need to be the best at whatever I do
I strongly resonate with the commando values and spirit
What is the Future Commando Force?
The Future commando force is a modernisation programme aimed to transform the role and operations of the Royal Marines.
Currently it models the Royals marines as a new special operations capable maritime force being able to provide rapid response ability and is able to work in littoral zones. As well as LRG’s which are littoral response groups (2 amphibious warfare ships with a company of Royal Marines and various supporting elements) aims to form LSG (Littoral strike groups)
FCF also has increased funding (40 million over 4 years) for better gear for the Royal Marines including new uniform, rifle (KS-1) new helmet made by Gentex and new fused binocular night vision device produced by L3harris

From what I learned from the Globe & Laurel
40 Commando:
continuing preparations in the build up to the inaugural LRG deployment.
B Coy deployed to Australia on Ex Talisman Sabre conducting integration & amphibious training with partner nations.

M coy had completed the 3rd rotation of a commitment to training Ukrainian Marines. A team deployed to Arizona to enhance GEF capability on Ex Red Flag Rescue
GEF - extracting dislocated personal from hostile environments

43 Commando
O Squadron was behind the wire conducting nuclear security Ops.
P squadron was conducting operational training with one troop in North Carolina for partnered training with Marsoc on Ex Trident Assault

45 Commando
Y and Z coys deployed to the mountains of the Sierra in Nevada, California on Ex Green Dagger to test their mountain warfare skills.
