Stand By The Oars
lift oars off the thwarts, place blades flat on the forward gunwales, push oars forward until handle is over the respective thwart
Up Oaars
Lift oars to the vertical position
Give Way
Oars go forward to start the stroke
Let Fall
Let the oars fall into the rowlock
Oars
Finish the stroke then leave oars horizontal outside the water
Back Water
Row toward the stern
Hold Water
COmplete the stroke but leave the oar in the water to stop the boat
Stern All
When rowing ahead finish the stroke and then start back water stroke gradually increasing the depth of immersion of the oars
Way Enough
When rowing ahead complete the stroke the swing the blade forward and put the oars in the boat
In Bows
Bowmen complete their stroke boat the oars and then help the boathook
Boat The Oars
Place the oars back in the boat
Out Oars
Put the oars in the rowlock from the boated position or stand by the oars position
Stand By To Give Way
Blades pushed to forward and slightly dipped for an instant start
Give Way Port, Back Water Starboard, And/Or Give Way Starboard Back Water Port
Used to turn the boat without making ay ahead or astern
Trail Oars
The trim blades of the oars are brought alongside the boat and left trailing in the water
