Rov Flashcards
List the types of ROVS
Free swimming, bottom crawling, structurally reliant
What ROV stand for?
Remote operated vehicle
What is a tether?
Provides power and data to ROV- Also physical connection to the surface-“lifeline”
What type of ROV is ours?
Free swimming
ROV safety- list 2 precautions
Do not touch metal to metal, keep electric away from water, work with adult present, used tools with insulated handles
List systems/steps of ROV- there are 3
Electrical (wiring), structural (frame), and mechanical (tether and motors)
Why use PVC?
Cheap, readily available, easy to work with
Define Buoyancy
The upward force on the row by the displacement of water
List three types of buoyancy
Positive, negative, neutral
Makes it float on the top
Positive buoyancy
Makes it sink- At the bottom
Negative buoyancy
Neither sinks or floats- whole thing - middle
Neutral buoyancy
What kind of buoyancy do we want?
Neutral
Wire gauge
Ex: 20 gauge (smaller), < 16 gauge (larger)
To waterproof
Black plastic shrink wrap- And hot glue over the solder
