Straw, yellow, amber, red, green, blue
Urine appearance
Clear or turbid
Urine pH

Can be due to kidney damage
Can be due to contamination from menstruation
Urine nitrate
Can signify the presence of bacteria (UTI)
Urine glucose
Glycosuria; indicates that blood glucose is above renal threshold of 160-180 mg/dL
Occurs in diabetes mellitus and gestational diabetes
Indicates diabetes not being well controlled in the pt
Reagent strip is specific for glucose
Normal urine is glucose negative
Urine protein
Proteinuria
Important indicator of renal disease
Can be caused by UTI or vigorous exercise
Urine urobilinogen
Can be increased in hepatic disease or hemolytic disease
Reference range between 0.0-1.0 mg/dL
Urine bilirubin
