Top Level Domain
Last portion of the Web Address. ie .com, .net, .org
Reigstrars
Authority that can assign domain names under one or more top level domains.
NS Records
Name Server records are used by top level Domain Servers to direct traffic to the Content DNS Server
Route53
AWS Resource that can create NS Records that you can take too Domain Registrars Like GoDaddy.
A Record
Most Fundamental DNS Record. Resolves Name to IP Address.
Elastic LB (Load Balancer)
Does not contain IPv4 address. Contains only the DNS Name. Used to route traffic to AWS Resources.
TTL (Time To Live)
cache that is equal to the value of time to live in seconds.
CName (Canonical Name)
Resolves a domain to another. m.Facebook to Mobile.Facebook
Alias
Maps your domain to your AWS Resource. Typically your maps domain to ELB.
Alias vs CNAME
- FREE
- Can be created for the zone apex
- Points to AWS Resource

- Simple: Default RoundRobin type routing.
