What are examples of local administration?
Ointment, cream, gel, paste
What are routes of drug administration
Parenteral, sublingual/buccal, percutaneous, pulmonary, ophthalmic, rectal, intravaginal, intra-nasal
What is the enteral or peroral administration?
Oral → administration to or by way of the mouth
What are the non-enteral routes
Buccal, sublingual, topical, transdermal, intranasal, ophthalmic, rectal, intravaginal, auricular, pulmonary,
Examples of parenteral route
Injection, infusion, or implantation
Examples of non-enteral routes parenteral
Intra-arterial, intra-articular, intracardiac, intracerebral, intravenous, subcutaneous, intramuscular, intradermal
Define buccal
Administration directed towards the cheek
Define sublingual
Administration beneath the tongue
Define topical (cutaneous)
Administration on the surface of the skin
Define transdermal
Administration through the dermal layer of the skin to the systemic circulation
Define intranasal
Administration into the nose
