Rotator Cuff Flashcards
Supraspinatus Origin
Subscapular fossa of the scapula
Supraspinatus Insertion
Lesser tubercle of the humerus
Supraspinatus Action
Helps the deltoid initiate the abduction of the arm
Supraspinatus Innervation
Nerve to the muscle: suprascapular nerve
Nerve roots: C5 and C6
Infraspinatus Origin
infraspinous fossa of the scapular
Infraspinatus Insertions
Middle part of the greater tubercle of the humerus
Infraspinatus Action
Laterally rotates the arm at the shoulder joint (glenohumeral)
Infraspinatus Innervation
Nerve to the muscle: suprascapular nerve
Nerve roots: C5 and C6
Teres Minor Origin
Middle part of the lateral (axillary) border of the scapula
Teres Minor Insertion
Inferior aspect of the greater tubercle of the humerus
Teres Minor Action
- Laterally rotates the arm at the shoulder joint (glenohumeral)
- Weakly abducts the arm at the shoulder joint (glenohumeral)
Teres Minor Innervation
Nerve to the muscle: Axillary nerve
Nerve roots: C5 and C6
Subscapularis Origin
Subscapular fossa of the scapula
Subscapularis Insertion
Lesser tubercle of the humerus
Subscapularis Action
Medially rotates the arm at the shoulder joint (glenohumeral)
