General Dentist
primary care provider for patients in all age groups who take responsibility for the diagnosis, treatment, management and overall coordination of services to meet patients oral health needs.
Pedodontist
specializes and treats children
Cosmetic dentists
any dental work that improves the appearance of a person’s teeth, gums and/or bite.
Endodontists
specializes in the interior tooth structure or the dental pulp
Orthodontists
specialize in moving teeth. Often tooth movement is done in conjunction with jaw movement and stabilization surgery. They take care of orthodontic alignment
Periodontists
perform dental implant surgery as well since this procedure requires superior knowledge of how to cut into the gums with as little trauma as possible
Oral surgeons
Specialize in oral surgery and have more training and extensive skills in dealing with deeper and more complicated structural issues.
They do NOT do root canals
Prosthodontist
the branch of dentistry concerned with the design, manufacture, and fitting of artificial replacements for teeth and other parts of the mouth. Ex: dentures, bridges, and other tooth restorations
Denturist
Also specializes in dentures, bridges, and other tooth restorations, but don’t have the same amount of skills and training as prosthodontists.
Hygienist
in dental offices performing dental cleanings and scaling.
