expression: “the dead are well”. Here Balthasar is telling Romeo that Juliet is dead.

Friar Laurence to Friar John - Friar Laurence says this when he learns that Friar John was
unable to give his message to Romeo. An accident of fate interfered with their plans. (This is
an example of an oxymoron.)
