Jury
A group of citizens chosen to hear evidence and make a decision in a court of law and determine guilt or innocence
Republic
A form of government in witch citizens elect representatives to speak or act for them.
Tribune
An elected official who represented interest and protected the rights of the plebeians by using there veto power
Patrician
The ruling class, members of the noble wealthy families who controlled all power in the early years of the Rome republic
Forum
The central of life in Rome. A gravel clearing not much bigger than a soccer field.
Plebeian
A common farmer,trader, or craftworker in Ancient Rome who was an ordinary citizen.
Veto
The power to stop any action in government. The tribunes had the power to veto any of the consoles actions that were unfair to the plebeians
Dictator
A leader who rules with absolute power total control over a government
Census
An official count of people living in a place
Aqueduct
A human made channel that carries water over a long distance
Consul
Head of government usually with a limited term of office
Legions
Large groups of Romans soldiers
