who was schumann
schumann was a german composer who was born in 1810. he wrote a lot of piano pieces. many of his picecs have descriptive titles being examples of programme music.
the piano forte
invted avround 1700s.it had a hammer action where the strings in the piano struck instead of being plucked.allowing for a greater range of dynamics.the instrument was made strong using an iron frame which allowed for an increase in dynamic possibilites.also allowing the melody to be played between hands. foot pedals were also added right to substain the sound and left to mute.
who was chopin
was a polish composer born in 1810.lots of his music uses polish folk tunes and dance rhythms.his music characterised by expressive melodies and made extensive use of the melodies.he wrote many dances such as polonaises, mazurkas and waltzes. as well as etudes and nocturnes which often had a lyrical melody and broken chords.the tempo was generally slow.chopin wrote 24 preludes.many have nicknames like ‘rain drops’.
