Aulus Platinus was the first governor when Britain was first declared as Roman province.
How long did the Romans remain in Briton for?
The Romans remained in Roman for 400 years. Some became wealthy and some Britons suffered severely from the Roman occupation.
Which tribe was living in Briton before the Romans?
The Celts.
What was Celtic Britain like?
Celtic Britain had neither towns or roads and most farmers where living in round houses made of mud and thatched roofs.
What were Celtic priests called?
Druids.
What were the Celts like in terms of religion?
Celts were very religious, their priests were Druids and they believed in many gods and goddesses. The celts were also very superstitious; they be,keyed that human souls have afterlives that lived in their heads. This is why when they killed their enemies, they would collect their heads.
Who was Boudicca?
Boudicca was King Praustagus’s wife. When he died, he left half of his property to his two daughters and the other half to Rome. The Romans were not happy with this so they took control of all of the properties and public ally whipped Boudicca and raped her daughters. This incited Boudicca to rebel.
What did Boudicca do in her rebellion?
She joined forces with other Celtic tribes and destroyed Colchester, St. Albans and London. Despite gaining victory over these, she lost the Battle of Wattling street against the Romans. Any rebellions that survived were coat urged and were made slaves.
How did Boudicca die?
There are rumours as to how Boudicca died, some say she died from her battle wounds and some say that she and her daughters drank poison to stop them selves from being in the hands of the Romans.
Why was Boudicca so significant?
Because she was a legendary leader who inspired people to fight back against the Romans- who at the time thought they were invincible.

Client kings were local people chosen by Romans. They were in charge of that local area and collected tax.
