A
Add ‘ka?’ at the end of the sentence.
Eg: Mary-san wa gakusee desu ka? –> (Mary, are you a student?)
3
Q
Answering Questions
A
Two ways of responding:
- Hai, (A wa) B desu.
- Iie, (A wa) B ja arimasen.
Eg:
Q = Mary-san wa gakusee desu ka?
A 1 = Hai, (watashi wa) gakusee desu. (Yes, I’m a student.)
A2 = Iie, (watashi wa) gakusee ja arimasen. Sensee desu. (No, I’m not a student. I’m a teacher.)
Note: you don’t have to add (A wa) at all since it’ll be repetitive, i.e like in english “I am” repeated in all sentences would seem lengthy/not necessary.
