External Rotation Strength Test for the Shoulder

A

1) Racing the athlete, placed hands on the lateral sides of the athlete’s wrists.
2) Instructed athlete to externally rotate his or her arms and push against your hands isometrically ( increasing the tension of the muscle without movement of the joint), making sure to stabilize the athlete at the elbow.
3) Reported observations to the athletic trainer.

Internal Rotation Strength Test for the Shoulder

A

1) Facing the athlete, placed hands on the medial sides of the athlete’s wrists while the athlete’s elbow is bent at 90 degrees.
2) Instructed athlete to internally rotate his or her arms and push against your hands isometrically, making sure to stabilize the athlete at the elbow.
3) Reported observations to the athletic trainer.
