Roles of the healthcare system and the human body Flashcards
What is the role of a General Practitioner?
A doctor in a small community who treats or tends to patients with minor or chronic illnesses
Why do doctors rely on Pharmacists and why is this important ?
To ensure the safety of the medicine (e.g doses). This is especially important if the patient is a child.

What are the roles of Pharmacists ?
Give information, medication and health care
Is there a key member in healthcare teams ?
All roles in healthcare are vital
How does the human body function in a nutshell ?
A variety of systems work together to stabilize, give movement, convert the material into energy, transportation of materials, and, send electrical signals throughout the body to allow these things to occur.
Which systems in the human body allow us to move ?
The skeletal, muscular, and nerves system allows us to move.
Which system transports materials through our body ?
The circular system
Which system converts materials into energy?
The digestive system
What are organs made of ?
Tissue which are made out of cells
How do cells differ from each other ?
Every cell in the body have a different function
How do cells communicate with each other?
Through electrical signals which are called neurotransmitters.
Where do neurotransmitters come from ?
Neurotransmitters are synthesized in neurons and are made up of precursor molecules which are found abundantly in the cell
How are systems in the body linked ?
All systems are linked on an intercellular level
What is the function of the Endocrine system ?
This system helps regulates the body’s ideal standards for optimal living e.g Homeostasis or Body Temperature
