What is status?
A persons social standing in society
What happens in society with the more status you have?
You have more power and control

It can be ascribed or achieved
What is ascribed status?
When your status is given to you without having to do anything
What is achieved status?
The status which you gain through the work that you do in society.

A sense of self developed through interactions with others
How might individuals develop a social identity?
By being labelled certain ways

The way that people see us and how we see other people based on ethnicity

The way that people see us and how we see others based on our nationality
