They must be empathetic and have authority

When the demands and expectations of one role clash with those of another
What is an example of a role clash?
Having to be a student and a friend at the same time
What is status?
A persons social standing in society
What happens in society with the more status you have?
You have more power and control
What are the 2 ways that people can get status?
It can be ascribed or achieved
What is ascribed status?
When your status is given to you without having to do anything
What is achieved status?
The status which you gain through the work that you do in society.

The ability to change your status in a society
What is social identity?
A sense of self developed through interactions with others
How might individuals develop a social identity?
By being labelled certain ways
