The other boys on the island don’t know much about Roger, he is suggested to be hiding something (the innate evil inside of him)

A
Roger has urges to cause harm and violence but refrains from doing so he is ‘conditioned’ by society’s and parent’s consequences.

‘Ralph a shock of hair and Piggy a bag of fat’
A
Roger completely dehumanises Ralph and Piggy before killing Piggy. This could have connotations towards the Americans bombing Japan from aeroplanes which removed a sense of empathy for them as they could not see their victims. Also reflects Himmler, Hitler’s second hand man, who opened concentration camps and killed vulnerable, innocent people.
