13
Q

When are goals hot?

A

During autonomous mode, goals (left and right) alternates as “hot” for 5 seconds each. The first goal to go hot is randomly selected by FMS.

Q

What is a “Sweet Spot”?

A

A place on the field where a team will consistently shoot from; making them more accurate while also making them more vulnerable to defense as they always go to the same place.

18
Q

What feature makes a robot a “Goalie Bot”?

A

The ability to extend something, 6” cylindrical or smaller, to the goal level to blocks shots.

19
Q

What are the 3 ways to obtain a ball?

A

Floor pickup, human load, and catch.

20
Q

What is Pit Scouting?

A

Going around to all teams in the Pit and interviewing them about their robot. This data is used to see WHAT they say their robot is capable of.

21
Q

What is Match Scouting?

A

Match scouting is evaluating the HOW… How well does their robot do what they say it is capable of?

22
Q

How much is a truss toss worth?

A

10 Points.

23
Q

How much is a catch worth?

A

10 Points.

24
Q

What are Vex Pro Ball Shifters and Andy Mark Super Shifters?

A

2 different brands, however, both are 2 speed shifting gear boxes. More commonly used as drive train (like on the 66 robot), but also used this year as a wench mechanism (for spring based shooting systems like the 470 robot).

25
Q

What is the End Game?

A

This is a trick question, there is no end game (THIS YEAR). Typically it’s a special activity that is something you have to do in the last few seconds of the match.

26
Q

What is the base score of a high goal score?

Score when no other bonuses are applied

A

10 Points

27
Q

What is the base score of a low goal score?

Score when no other bonuses are applied

A

1 Point

28
Q

What is the bonus of a ball scored with 1 assist?

A

0 Points

1 Assists means one robot possessed the ball in all three zones.

29
Q

What is the bonus of a ball scored with 2 assists?

A

10 Points

30
Q

What is the bonus of a ball scored with 3 assists?

A

30 Points

31
Q

What is the max score that can be earned during one cycle in Tele-Op?

A

60 Points. Broken down as follows:

10 Points for scoring in the high goal.
30 Points for 3 Assists.
10 Points for Truss Toss.
10 Points for Catch.

32
Q

What are Hydraulics, and are we approved to use them?

A

Hydraulics are similar to Pneumatics, except they use hydraulic fluid instead of air. They are not legal because FIRST does not want us using liquids and hydraulic fluid is VERY heavy. I asked the question because people often mistake Hydraulic and Pneumatic. We are only allowed to use Pneumatics.

33
Q

What is the brain of the robot?

A

The cRio (See-Ree-Ohh). This is what controls everything and is where the robot code is stored. This is VERY expensive and can be sensitive to breaking.

34
Q

What is Motor 1?

A

Cim Motor

35
Q

What is Motor 2?

A

Bag Motor

36
Q

What is Motor 3?

A

Mini-Cim

37
Q

What is Motor 4?

A

PG71 (Motor and Gearbox Combo)

38
Q

What is Motor 5?

A

Window Motor

39
Q

What is Motor 6?

A

Banebots Motor

40
Q

What is the penalty for a G12: An ALLIANCE may not POSSESS their opponent’s BALLS. The following criteria define POSSESSION

A

Technical Foul- Opponent Awarded 50 Points.

41
Q

What is the penalty for G21: ROBOTS may not extend outside the FIELD.

A

Foul- Opponent Awarded 20 Points.

Repeated offense will result in Red Card (disqualified).

42
Q

What is the penalty for G28: Deliberate or damaging contact with an opponent ROBOT on or inside its FRAME PERIMETER is not allowed.

A

Technical Foul- Opponent Awarded 50 Points.

43
Q

What is the penalty for G15:
During AUTONOMOUS,a ROBOT starting in the white ZONE may not cross fully beyond the TRUSS
a ROBOT starting in its GOALIE ZONE must remain in contact with the carpet in its GOALIE ZONE.

A

Foul- Opponent Awarded 20 Points.

If contact with Opponent Robot, Technical Foul- Opponent Awarded 50 Points.

44
Q

What is a cycle?

A

A cycle starts when ball is placed on the field by the human player. The cycle ends when the ball is scored. Then it starts again.
