R66 air restart
-If N1 is above 20%, press start button for restart.
- if N1 bellow 20%
- fuel cutoff – off
- throttle – closed
- start button – press and release
- N1 15% or above – fuel cutoff on
- after peak MGT – throttle full open
R66 engine fire during start or shutdown
- Fuel cutoff – pull off
- Starter button – press on and release
- Fuel valve knob – pull off
- Battery switch – off when MGT decreases to 150°c or fire worsens
- If time permits, apply rotor break
- Exit aircraft
R66 engine fire in flight
- immediately enter autorotation
- cabin heat – off (if time permits)
- if engine is running, land immediately, pull fuel cutoff and fuel valve off
- if engine stops running, pull fuel cutoff, fuel valve off, complete auto
- if time permits, apply rotor break
- exit aircraft
R66 electrical fire
- Battery and generator – off
- open cabin vents
- land immediately
- pull fuel cutoff, fuel valve off
- apply rotor break if time permits
- exit aircraft
R66 HYD failure
- verify HYD switch – ON
- if hydraulics not restored – HYD switch off
- adjust airspeed and flight conditions for comfort
- land as soon as practical, run on landing recommended.
R66 governor failure
- if N2 overspeeds, attempt to control rpm with throttle
- if N2 underspeeds, verify throttle full open, reduce collective to control rpm
- land as soon as practical
Note* if rpm cannot be controlled, close throttle and perform auto
R66 MR TEMP/PRESS warning light
Land immediately
R66 engine oil warning light
- check pressure gauge
- pressure low – land immediately
- pressure normal – land as soon as practical
- n1 bellow 50% – possible flame out, attempt air restart
