What is the MR for Robbery?
The mr is the same as for theft, D must have intent with the intention to dishonestly permanently deprive.
What happened in the case of R v Robinson 1977?
D threatened his victim with a knife in order to obtain payment for money he was owed. This case was held not robbery as dishonestly was lacked. D believed he had legal right to the money owed, it was not theft.
What is the concern in law in relation to completion of the offence? IN THE EXAM
The question has arisen as to when the offence of robbery is completed - in other words when is D liable for full offence and not just attempt ?
What happened in Corcoran V Anderton 1980? EXAM
It was held that the full offence takes place when the application of the force is completed. D’s were held liable for robbery despite dropping the bag and not attempted robbery.
