Elements?

A

All elements of theft must exist (Robinson). Can still be theft even if D doesn’t manage to actually permanently deprive V of property. (Corcoran v Anderton)

Actus reus?

A

Use or threat of force on another person immediately before or at the time fo the theft and for the purposes of theft (Hale; Lockley), if the theft is complete or if the force is used for any other purpose it is not robbery.

Force?

A

Force is not defined in the act, the jury will decide whether it is sufficient- wrenching a bag and jostling were enough force in Dawson; Cloudon.

There is no need to prove that the victim was afraid it that the victim of the force if the victim of the theft
