Robbery Definition
robbery is defined under s.8 of theft act 1968,a person is guilty of robbery if he steals and immediately before or at the time of doing so he uses force on any person or puts any person in fear of then and there subjected to force

Completed Theft
There must be a completed theft for a robbery to have been committed.
All of the elements of theft must be present(appropriotation property,belonging to another) there must be an intention to permanent deprive as seen in the case of cororan and anderson where the moment the theft is completed with the relevant force there is a robbery
Force
Force is not defined clearly, the force mut be sufficient to be noticeable the jury to decide using the ordinary meaning of the word as seen in the case of Dawson and James where a nudge is considered enough to be force and it is for a jury to decide if what occurred amounted to force
Threat Of Force
in order for there to be a robbery there must be a threat of force on a person it does not necessarily be the victim of the theaft as sees in the cxase of P v DPP if there is no direct contact between defendant and the victim then it cannnot be said that fore has been used on a person
immediately before or at the time of theft
