Robbery definition
“A person is guilty of robbery if he steals, and immediately before or at the time of doing so, and in order to do so, he uses force on any person or seeks to put any person in fear of being then and there subjected to force” s8 theft act 1968

V doesn’t have to feel fear and threat can be implied
B and R v DPP - d wasn’t scared, surrounding victim is implied threat, limited force present anyway in pushing and holding arms
Does the person stolen from have to be the one threatened?
NO - hostage situation
“At the time of stealing”
Hale - theft was ongoing as thief hadn’t left house
Lockley - theft still ongoing while D escapes
Force used to steal
Force must be used to take the item
