What were the 3 criteria for a revolution?
- People are upset with the status quo or see a need for change.
- Present a plan that seems better than the status quo.
- Plan must be put into action and a change should happen.
What is a revolution?
Revolution is a forcible overthrow of a government or a social order in favor od a new system.
What is Tragic Necessity?
Something tragic occurred but was needed for a necessary change to the status quo. It could be for the greater good but there will be negative consequences Tragic necessity is clearly connected to a historical perspective.
What was the renaissance?
a period in European civilization that was marked by a revival of Classical learning and wisdom.
What is humanism?
Humanism is a cultural movement during the renaissance that focused on the study of classical works of literature.
What is classical Scholarship?
The close study of literary texts by critics active in the ancient Greek and Roman worlds
What is secularism?
Secularism is the view that religion should not be the center of human affairs.
What is individualism?
Individualism is being on your own.
What is Christian Humanisation?
Christian Humanisation is focused more on the history of Christianity.

The people with in the Catholic Church started to change.

Children would work for long periods of time with very little pay. They forced children to work because their small fingers could fit in the small cracks.

A series of anti-government protests and rebellions that took place in various middle eastern and north African countries.

A person who has left or been forced out of their country by war or other causes.

One of many resistance groups during the french revolution. The Jacobins were thought of as more extremist.

Took power after the French revolution. Crowned himself as Emporer.

King Louis XVI wife. Was an Austrian Princess. Queen during the French revolution.

He was the head of the Reign of Terror.

Known as the “Renesainse Man” because he was very skilled and knew how to do most of the stuff.

Started the Protestant Reformation. He Put the (5 theses on the church wall.

He wrote about astrology and geography in the middle ages.

He was a Polish astronomer who published a book. Historians believe that this sparked the Scientific Revolution.

He proved Copernicus’ theory right. He was an astronomer. He was an Italian astronomer.
Sir Isaac Newton
An English scientist who came at the peak of the scientific revolution.
Mohamed Bouazizi
He lit himself on fire because the government took his fruit vending card. This was the “last straw” for him. This started the Arab Spring.
