Regulatory Traffic signs are signs that you must obey.
What design are most regulatory traffic signs?
Most regulatory traffic signs are circular in shape, have a red border and symbols or text in black.
Why do the STOP and YIELD signs have unique shapes?
The STOP and YIELD signs have unique shapes so that they cannot be confused with any other signs.
What does the STOP sign mean? (REFER TO PG 17 FOR PICS)
Stop your vehicle. This sign appears at junctions where a minor road joins a major road. You must stop your vehicle completely at a STOP sign.
What must a driver do when this sign ( STOP SIGN) is accompanied by a white stop line on the road?
Stop at the line. When accompanied by a STOP sign, the white stop line indicates the point at which you must stop your vehicle.
What must a driver do when this sign ( STOP SIGN ) is NOT accompanied by a white stop line on the road?
Stop at the sign. Where a STOP sign is not accompanied by a white stop line, you must stop at the sign.
What does the YIELD sign mean at a junction? ( pg 17 for pics )
Yield to traffic on the major road. At a junction, the YIELD sign tells you that you must give way to traffic on a major road ahead. This means that you must slow down and be prepared to stop.
What does this sign ( YIELD SIGN ) mean at a roundabout?
Yield to traffic coming from the right. At a roundabout, the YIELD sign tells you that you must slow down and be prepared to stop. You must yield (give way) to traffic already on the roundabout.
What does up arrow sign mean? ( pg 18 )
Straight ahead only. This sign tells you that you must proceed straight ahead. It is usually displayed on the entry to a one-way street.
What does left pointing arrow sign mean?
Turn left only. This sign tells you that you must tuen left. It is usually displayed at a junction where all traffic must turn left - for e.g. in a one-way system that incorporates a junction.
What does right pointing arrow sign mean?
Turn right only. This sign tells you that you must turn right. It is usually displayed at a junction where all traffic must turn right, for e.g. in a one way system that incorporates a junction.
What does up arrow pointing left sign mean?
Turn left ahead. This sign tells you that you must turn left ahead. It is usually displayed on the approach to a one way system.

Turn right ahead. This sign tells you that you must turn right ahead. It is usually displayed on the approach to a one way system.
What does arrow point down at an angle to the left mean?
Keep left. This sign tells you that you must keep left. It is usually displayed at a traffic island in the centre of the road.
What does arrow pointing right at an angle mean?
Keep right. This sign tells you that you must keep right. It is usually found in a one way system where traffic is required to keep to the right.
