18
Q

What is a β€œshark’s teeth” yield line?

A

Line of solid white triangles indicating the point where a vehicle must yield/stop. πŸ”½πŸ”½πŸ”½πŸš˜πŸš–πŸš˜

19
Q

When can you make a legal U-turn?

A

Across a double yellow line when safe and legal, in a residential district where there are no vehicles approaching within 200 feet (or when a traffic sign, light, or signal protects you from approaching vehicles), at an intersection on a green light or arrow unless a β€œNo U-turn” sign is posted, and on a divided highway if an opening is provided in the center divider.

β€œDo You Love Red Ducks, 200 of them, Singing Prayers. If God Loves All Unconditionally Nobody Understands. Does He Open Paradise Camp Divine.”

20
Q

When is it illegal to make a U-turn?

A

At a railroad crossing, on a divided highway (2 sets of double yellow lines), where you cannot see 200 feet in each direction, where a β€œNo U-turn” sign is posted, where other vehicles may hit you, on a one way street, in front of a fire station, in business districts (includes churches, apartments, and public buildings). πŸš«πŸš‚βΈβΈ2️⃣0️⃣0οΈβƒ£πŸš«πŸš˜πŸš™β¬†οΈπŸš’β›ͺοΈπŸ•πŸ•Œ

21
Q

How do you park on slopes or hills, uphill and downhill, with a curb and without?

A

Uphill turn wheels to the left and let the car gently roll back so the wheel sits on the curb. Downhill or either direction without a curb, you want to point your wheels away from the road so the car won’t roll into traffic, should the brakes fail. β¬†οΈβ¬…οΈβ¬‡οΈβ€”β¬‡οΈβ¬†οΈβ¬…οΈβž‘οΈ

22
Q

On a fair-weather day, when should you have your headlights on?

A

30 minutes after sunset and 30 minutes before sunrise. πŸŒžπŸŒ›πŸŒœπŸŒž

23
Q

What do you do if you see a collision on the road ahead of you?

A

You either turn on your emergency flashers or quickly tap the brake 3-4 times to warn drivers behind you.

24
Q

How do you yield the right-of-way for an ambulance, fire engine, police car, or any other emergency vehicle using a siren and red lights?

A

Drive to the right edge of the road and stop until the emergency vehicle(s) have passed. Never, however, stop in an intersection, carry through the intersection and then pull over. Follow any loudspeaker directions made by the emergency vehicle(s). πŸš‘πŸš’πŸš“

25
Q

What should you do when approaching a stationary emergency vehicle or tow truck flashing warning lights , or a Department of Transportation (Caltrans) vehicle flashing emergency warning lights while stopped on the side of a state highway or freeway?

A

Move over a lane if safe to do so or slow down to keep any responding peace officers, tow truck drivers, paramedics, Caltrans employees, or any other emergency personnel safe.

26
Q

How should you adjust your speed when driving with the following road conditions: wet road, packed snow, and ice?

A
  • Wet Road - Reduce speed by 5 to 10 mph.
  • Packed Snow - Reduce speed by half.
  • Ice - Slow to a crawl.
27
Q

What factors can make a road more slippery?

A

Shaded areas on cold, wet days may hide ice patches that freeze first and dry last. Bridges and overpasses tend to freeze first and may contain ice patches. Rain on hot days can cause roads to be particularly slippery because heat brings oils to the road surface and may take awhile to wash away.

28
Q

T.I.R.E Tread Tips

A

Tread: Place an upside down penny in tire tread. If all of Lincoln’s head is visible you need a new tire.
Inflate: Check air pressure once a month. Low pressure can cause tire wear and poor gas mileage.
Rotate: Rotate tires every 3,000 to 5,000 miles to increase tire tread life.
Evaluate: Evaluate tires every day for abnormal wear, cracks, and nails.

29
Q

What can you do to dry brakes if they’ve gotten wet while driving?

A

Lightly press both the brake and gas pedals in tandem until dry.
