Definition of a Project
- It is a temporary endeavor, with a beginning and an end
- It creates a unique product, service, or result
Project Team
Group of people, including project manager, who will complete the work of the project
- Plans what needs to be done- WBS and schedule estimates
- Completes activities to produce deliverables
Project Management Team
For large projects, team members that perform project management activities
Stakeholder
Those impacted by or can influence the project, either positively or negatively.
Stakeholder Management
Keep them informed, solicit their input, work to satisfy their needs and expectations
Project Management
Responsible for managing the project to meet project objectives and deliver value and benefits to the organization
Governance
Organizational Governance - Structure of org, policies and procedures for how work will be be performed
Project Governance - Framework within which project work is performed across the organization.

Supportive - provides policies, methodology, templates, and lessons learned. Exercises a low level of control
Controlling - provides support and guidance, trains, tools, ensures compliance. Exercises a moderate level of control
Directive - provides project managers, is responsible for project results. Manages all projects. Exercises a high level of control

Framework for keeping the organization as a whole focused on overall strategy.
Provides direction on how portfolios, programs, projects, and other work should be prioritized, managed, executed, and measured to achieve strategic goals and desired benefits

Functional = "Silo" Projects generally within a single department, team members do project work + normal work Project-Oriented = "No Home" Company is organized by projects - also known as composite or hybrid Matrix = "Two Managers" - Team members report to two managers

Outside control of the project team, provide context for the project.
Internal EEFs - culture, structure of organization. Examples - resource management system, procurement system
