what is precipitation?
rain, snow, sleet, or hail that falls to the ground
what is evaporation?
The process of which water turns into water vapor when water is heated
what is condensation?
When water vapor in the air cools down and turns into droplets, forming clouds
what is interception?
When vegetation or other objects catch the rain before in hits the ground
what is infiltration?
when water seeps into the ground from the surface
what is surface run-off?
when water flows over the ground surface instead of infiltrating into the soil, normally on slopes
what is throughflow?
water moving sideways through the soil or rock layers
what is groundwater?
water that is stored beneath the earths surface between rocks and soil
what is groundwater flow?
the movement of water underground, flowing through rocks and soil
