A

Deltas are little islands of deposition caused by the river found near the river mouth.

A

Floods occur when rivers overflow

What are flood plains and levees?

A

Levees are natural borders created by deposition that stop water from rivers overflowing. The floodplain is the area of lighter materials that are deposited further away from the river.

Name 5 factors that might cause flooding.

A

-hard rock (or concrete)- does not absorb water as well. -deforestation- not enough trees to absorb water. -saturated soil- cannot absorb more water. -tsunami/hurricane (unlikely) -steep slopes—> water flow is very fast—> doesn’t give solid enough time to absorb water.
