What does traction mean?
Large sediments roll along the river bed.
What does saltation mean?
Small pieces of sediment bounce across the river bed.
What does suspension mean?
Small particles are carried within the water.
What does solution mean?
Minerals are dissolved into the water and can be transported.
What is slumping?
When the ground becomes wet and falls down a slope in s short time. This occurs with a curved movement.
What does sliding mean?
This is similar to slumping however the land moves down a flat slope, not in a curved way.
What does deposition mean?
This is the dropping of material that had been carried in the water. This can create a beach.
What is the source of a river?
The start of a river
What is the mouth of a river?
The end of a river
What is a drainage basin?
The land where the rain water will flow into the river.
What is the watershed
The edge of a drainage basin
What is a confluence?
The point we’re 2 rivers meet
What is the tributary?
When a smaller river meets a larger river
