What is a small river that comes off the main river?
Tributary
What is the name of the point where two rivers meet?
Confluence
What is formed on the outside bend of a river?
River cliff.
What formations would you find in the middle course?

Waterfall/Gorge
What formation would you find in the lower course?
Floodplains
The point where the river meets the sea?
Mouth
How does a waterfall form?
The soft rock erodes quicker than the hard rock leaving an overhang/undercut.
What are the erosion techniques?
(HAAS) Hydraulic Action, Attrition, Abrasion, Solution.
What is deposition?
The dropping of materials/sediment.
Transportation techniques?
(TSSS) Traction, Saltation, Suspension, Solution.
Define hydraulic action?
The sheer force of water compressing into the cracks of rocks.
Define abrasion?
The scraping of sediment against the river bed like sandpaper removing small bits.
Define attrition?
Sediment colliding and becoming smaller and more rounder.
Define solution?
Acids in water dissolve certain types of rock such as limestone.
