What is traction
Large boulders and rocks rolled along the riverbed

Small pebbles and stones bouncing along the riverbed

The river looses its energy and drops sediment being carried
What is hydrolic action
the force of the river against the banks can cause air being trapped in cracks. The preasure weakens the cracks and gradually wears it away.
What is abrasion
rocks caried by the river rab and scrape the boltom and banks of the river
What is attrition
rocks being carried by the river Smash together and break into Smaller rounder particals
What isma valley
An area with higher ground on either side.

The land either side of the river which may flood
if the river overflows.
