what is a drainage basin?
an area of land where water from precipitation drain downhill into a body of water such as a river or ocean
what is the river source?
the start of the river usually in an upland area
what is the river mouth?
the end of the river where it meets the sea
what is a tributary?
a smaller stream or river which joins the main river
what is a confluence?
the point where a tributary meets the main river
what is a watershed?
an imaginary line showing the boundary of the drainage basin
what is the gradient like in the upper course?
it is very steep
