describe the formation of Levees
during a flood the thickest and corsets sediments rise and are deposited on the rivers edge , natural levees built up over many floods
describe the formation of deltas
where the fresh water from the river meets the salt water from the sea
describe the formation of meanders
the water on the outside of a channel moves quicker eroding the river bank, on the inside there is less energy causing deposition
describe the formation of ox bow lakes
meander bends more and more, until the neck. gets too thin and the meander is cut off, the water stops using the corner and uses quicker route. after a long time the oxbow lake dries up
describe the formation of waterfalls
hard rock above soft rock, soft rock erodes easier leaving hanging hard rock which falls and waterfall moves backwards creating a gorge
describe the formation of a gorge
a valley with steep horizontal sides created by a gorge
