River Landforms Flashcards
How are water falls and gorges made?
Gorges are made because the waterfall gradually erodes back creating the Ricky ally. Waterfalls are made when the water is flowing of the edge and erodes the soft rock. When the lip of hard rock is hanging over so much it can’t hold its self, it falls into the plunge pool and this cycle goes on and on making the water fall go father and father towards the source of the river.
How are ox-bow lakes formed?
Erosion makes the neck narrower, during floods the water then takes the shooter path over the neck making it narrower still. Finally the erosion makes the a new river path. The deposits creat a new bank seperating the ox-bow lake from the new river path
