Pools/Riffles
A
Segment of stream is quiet water, low velocity, indicates low slope
- spaced every 5-7 channel widths
- rifles and bars alternate side to side
- large woody debris create pools (step-pools)
- occur on moderate-gradient slope
- most common on lower order (small) streams
- often used to define a stream reach or stream segment
