What rituals are often seen within Hinduism?
Puja rituals. They consist of offerings to deities, reciting scriptures, charity work, and Satsang (gathering together to perform devotional acts)
What are the relationships within Hinduism?
Brahma + Vishnu + Shiva
Brahman + Humanity
What are the moral codes within Hinduism?
Dharma, a cosmic law underlying right behaviour + social order
Ahimsa (non-violence), part of the Oharma ethical principle of not causing harm to other living things
What are the beliefs of Hinduism?
Karma, Enlightenment, and Reincarnation
What is karma?
The desires that you try to fulfil now in this life. Dharma is the result of your karma playing out now.
What is enlightenment?
Continue in the cycle until enough good karma is gained to reach enlightenment. Enlightenment for Hindu’s is understanding that all things are united.
What is the cycle of Samsara
The cycle of Birth, Life, Death, and Rebirth.
What is the Caste system?
The caste system is rooted deeply in the belief in reincarnation. Depending on the karma you earned in your past life you will be ranked within the caste system in your next life.
What are the Caste levels?
Brahmin (Priests or teachers)
Kshatriyas (Rules/warriors)
Vaishyas (Artisians, farmers, and tradesmen)
Shudras (Commoners, peasants, servers)
Dalits/outcasts (Street sweepers, latrine cleaners)
