What is article 48?
A law that says the President can make laws without going through the Reichstag in extreme situations.
What did the Enabling law do?
It gave unlimited power to Hitler- as if they were in a war.
What happened in the night of long knives?
Hitler ordered the death of around a hundred SA members and Rohm (the leader of the SA)
Why did Hitler do the night of long knives?
He wanted the army to be on his side, and the army hated the SA.
Why did he get elected as Chancellor?
Hindenburg underestimated him. They thought they could use him and control him.
What about Hitler’s politics were appealing?
They were anti-Treaty of Versailles and losing the war. They blamed somebody (Jews) for their problems. He seemed stronger than the weak coalition governments.
