Nazi terror knowledge 1

A

The SA had grown out of proportion to their original size by the end of 1932 becoming a massive group of around 500,000 members which was able to support the party using considerable force and provide jobs, food and accommodation. This attracted many young men, especially during the depression when millions of Germans became unemployed or others were attracted by violence the SA used on other groups.

The SA not only marched and showed people how well organised life under the Nazis would be, but they were also used to break up political meeti by of opponents. Q

Nazi terror counter argument

A

However, due to the SA’s use of terror and violence, many Germans turned against the Nazis as they saw it as a sign that they would be incapable of governing a stable government. In addition, Hitler himself had very little faith in the SA because its leader Ernst Rohmboften acted without consulting him.

Q

Nazi propaganda analysis 1

A

This led to the rise of the Nazi party as people believed in Hitler and liked him, which convinced them to agree with his views and support the Nazis.

17
Q

Nazi propaganda knowledge 2

A

The Depression meant that slogans such as the offer of jobs and bread were enough to win the German support during this time of desperation 6 million people were unemployed and so the Nazi welfare organisation ran soup kitchens to help those suffering during the depression and this was publicised by a party ally Alfred Hugenberg.

Q

Nazi propaganda analysis 2

A

This led to the rise of the Nazi party as it created more publicity and showed that the Nazi party could support society during times of need just as they did during the depression.

19
Q

Nazi propaganda counter argument

A

However, as Goebbels, the propaganda minister, had little faith on the rest of the nazi propaganda it shows the limited importance in the growth of the Nazis. In addition when considering that people turn to extremism during crisis it could be argued that the dip in support was because of the decrease in unemployment but the fact that the other extrmeist KPD’s vote increased by 2% suggests that the attraction of the Nazis was in decline despite propaganda.

20
Q

Nazi propaganda counter argument analysis

A

This limits the importance of the propaganda campaign on the rise of the Nazis as it shows that the support for the Nazis was in declining and Nazi propaganda was mot able to convince people to join the Nazi party successfully.

21
Q

Conclusion judgement and justification

A

The most important factor in the growth of the Nazi party between 1918 to 1933 was Nazi propaganda because Hitler the leader of the Nazis was an exceptionally good public speaker and ak could use his charsima to convince them to agree with his view and support the Nazis. Another reason why Nazi propaganda was the most important factor in the growth of the Nazi party was because the Nazis used current events such as the Great Depression to create opportunities which would gain publicity and supporters like job offers.

22
Q

Conclusion rejection

A

Economic failures of the Weimar were not the most important factor in the growth of the Nazi party because there is no connection between economic failures and the rise of the Nazis which is shown by the fact that the Nazis failed Munich Putsch happened at the height of hyperinflation.
Nazi terror was not the most important factor in the growth of the Nazi party because the violent tactics used by the SA did the opposite of what was intended and instead caused Germans to turn against the Nazis.
